Sex and marriage with robots? It could happen

"Humans could marry robots within the century. And consummate those vows. "My forecast is that around 2050, the state of Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize marriages with robots," artificial intelligence researcher David Levy at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands told LiveScience." Real Life Kwik-E-Marts

"If all goes as planned, [7-11] plans to refit 11 stores across the U.S. -- Richmond is an unlikely choice -- to resemble the front of the Kwik-E-Mart, the convenience store that Homer and other characters frequent in the classic cartoon TV series. Customers also will be able to buy products inspired by the nearly two-decades-old show, including KrustyO's cereal, Buzz Cola and iced Squishees (the cup says Squishee, but the contents will be Slurpee)." Japanese Scientists Grow Teeth from Single Cells

"Japanese researchers said on Sunday they had grown normal-looking teeth from single cells in lab dishes, and transplanted them into mice. They used primitive cells, not quite as early as stem cells, and injected them into a framework of collagen, the material that holds the body together. After growing them, they found their structures had matured into the components that make teeth, including dentin, enamel, dental pulp, blood vessels, and periodontal ligaments." Link

Really Weird British Comics for Girls

"British girls comics seem to have a flair for the goofy, the bizarre, the surreal. Just check out the hook in our first example:"
"Sixteen-year-old Carol May had just left school and was helping her mother run their small hotel. Her father, a scientist, worked in a laboratory at a local university which specialized in the study of animal behaviour."

Multi-Player Online Game with Human Avatars

"Martin Butler presents four human avatars to play with. Log in at home with your character of choice. Direct the avatar, explore the space and challenge him or her. The avatars can also be observed live in their Analog Villa. Opening Friday 26 January 2007 at 20:00. When you use virtual avatars you can do as you please. In The Girlfriend Experience you will have to get to know each other first. Player and avatar explore what they can do for each other and how far the avatar wants to go to execute specific desires. It is ambiguous who is really controlling the situation. You have ten minutes to figure out what you can do with your avatar. After that, your time is up and another player can take your place." The Hair is the Hat

Darain Housen has not taken off his hat for the last 20 years. He bathes, he sleeps and does everything possible in it. It is a perfect fit. But unlike other hats, his is not made of cloth but from the very hair on his head which is why it cannot be removed.

Non-Lethal Viruses to "Neutralize" Cities

Here's a real-life idea I remember seeing in the scifi movie Serentity: Defense researchers are "developing 'biological agents' -- including ones that can lead to 'inflammation of the brain, coma and death' -- for 'incapacitating' enemies on the battlefield or 'neutralizing hostile cities.' It's one of a number of head-scratching ideas University of Bradford researcher Neil Davison reveals in his new report, 'The Early History of 'Non-Lethal' Weapons.' (Two others: military-strength strobe lights and 'odor warfare.')" Great. Just what we need: a Middle East full of Reavers.
